• Modeled from the Oswestry Low Back Pain Index.
• When documenting scores, ensure they are reported out of 50 points or as a percentage out of 100.
• Has a minimum clinically important change value of 5 points.
• Patients self-rate their disability due to neck pain. Scoring can be influenced by patient subjectivity at the time of completion, so results may not always accurately reflect the patient’s actual functional status.
• Focuses on activities of daily living and does not measure pain intensity or the psychological, emotional, or social impacts of pain. These should still be assessed separately during clinical encounters.

• Applicable for patients with acute or chronic neck pain stemming from various etiologies, including whiplash-associated disorders, musculoskeletal dysfunction, and cervical radiculopathy.
• Useful both at diagnosis and during follow-up appointments to monitor treatment progress.

Assesses the extent to which neck pain affects a patient’s activities of daily living. Provides a self-reported, quantifiable assessment of a patient’s perceived disability due to neck pain. Sensitive to changes in the patient’s condition, making it effective for tracking progress and response to treatment. Results can assist clinicians in management decisions, whether it be escalating or deescalating care, continuing current treatment, or switching to alternative therapies.
